Leaving Disney World for 2010

In Dreams Come True on December 10, 2010 at 6:49 pm

Well… today was a beautiful sunny day… no, really… 70 degrees.

Sorry, no pictures for this one… I’m writing waiting at the airport and have not yet downloaded today’s photos.

We packed up all our stuff and headed for the Disney Airport Check-In desk.   Disney has a nice service set up with the airlines.  You can check-in your luggage there at the resort and not see it again until baggage claim at destination.  That was the easy part.  We waited in that line 1 1/2 hrs only to end up leaving our luggage with the bell hops/sky captains!!!  The connection with Southwest Airlines was not working.  We tried to be very understanding as lots of people were not.  We then waited for the bus to DownTown Disney!  about 30 minutes.  It takes about 20 minutes on the bus to get to DownTown Disney.  We wanted to eat at the Earl of Sandwich, which is really yummy.  Well, the line was into the courtyard!  So I waited while Jennifer scouted out a table.  We ate lunch about 35 minutes later!  We shopped, still found things we HAD to have.  We then got back to our resort and laid by the pool in the sun.  Picked up our luggage and boarded the Disney Magical Express for the airport.

There was no line at baggage checkin!!!  IT WAS GREAT.

Going through security was a bit of a wait, about 20 minutes.  I went through no problem… however, Jennifer got pulled over, a random choice, and had stuff rubbed on her hands, had to wait a few minutes (yes, wait) to see if anything appeared on her hands.  In the mean time, the man running the xray scanning machine yells out, “Who’s bag is this?”  Well, don’t you know, it was Jennifer’s!!!  I yelled, “It’s my daughter’s.”  He answered that he was having to pass it through the xray scanning machine again!!!  It came back through OK, Jennifer was released, and off we went to put our shoes back on and all the stuff we moved, back in the places where we could find it!!

So, now, we’re waiting!!!  plane will board in 10 minutes or so and hopefully we won’t have to wait long!!! and our luggage will land in Manchester with us.

We’re leaving for home, to be happy to see our husbands, feeling bad they weren’t able to join us, but not so bad we didn’t go!!!

Till next time…

Christmas at Disney Hollywood Studios; Dec 9, 2010

In Dreams Come True on December 9, 2010 at 8:58 pm

Another absolutely fabulous day!!!  When we arrived this morning to Disney Hollywood Studios, we beelined it to Toy Story Mania to get our fast passes, it was about 10 am, return was already 4:15, were all gone by 11 am!!  From there we went to the Back Lot Tour… no volunteers for the pre-screening at the PT boat, when they have to sit in that little room & get soaked!!!  maybe they just don’t do that part when it’s so cold!!  Enjoyed the music of Mulch, Sweat & Shears!! they were singing Christmas carols in rock ‘n roll style… it was pretty snappy..

Rock to Christmas carols!!

We ate lunch then wove our way to the Tower of Terror…yup, it was fast!! and dropping & raising at warp speed!  Then, if that wasn’t fast enough, we stood 50 minutes in line for Rock N Roller Coaster… WOW!  I kept my eyes shut pretty much the entire ride, I could hear Jennifer screaming… we bought that Disney photo… I’ve decided this was my retirement ride!!  We walked through the Osborne Family Lights during the day to see what it all looked like

Osborne Lights in daytime... doesn't look like much... but wait

We went to the Beauty & the Beast stage show… our seats were about 10 rows from the front… closest I’ve ever been.  We saw the Little Mermaid stage show.  We went back to Toy Story Mania with our Fast Passes… it was still a lot of fun… but I remain the winner with people in my vehicle!!!

Jennifer's score on left, Brenda's on right!!

It was close to dusk, decided to head over to the Osborne Lights.  The amount of people there reminded me of New Year’s Eve in Time Square.  Neither of us knew what to expect… so we asked.  The lights go on at 6 pm with a little history of how they came to be at Disney… then it started.  It was AMAZING…

The still photos just don't show enough... it was incredible

See the hidden Mickey?

I’m trying a video here…  sorry, can’t do it… once I get home, I’m going to try to figure out how to put it on YouTube… so we’ll see.  The lights flash and are synchronized with the music… The colors all change, blink, literally dance to the music…A lot of planning to get this all put together… beautiful.

Tomorrow we pack it all in!!!  Going back to Downtown Disney for the day, leave All Star Movies Resort at 4 aboard the Disney Magical Express back to Orlando Airport.  Back to reality.  We are both filled with Christmas Spirit and about 350 photos between the two of us… A wonderful week with my daughter.

Merry Christmas

Hello…

What a great day we had!!!  It started off with frost on the grass! it did warm up, we wished we had brought shorts, took off our sweat shirts, by the end of the day, we had sweat shirts back on as well as the gloves.

The Christmas decorations, pointsettias, trees decorated, and carols playing over the loud speakers.  It really adds to the Christmas Spirit.

Minnie & Mickey celebrate

Jennifer & I dined at Nine Dragons in China to be part of the dining package for reserved seating at the Candlelight Procession.  The lunch was very good.  We were able to catch the Chinese Children acrobats!!!  OMG, the things they were doing was incredible… I never knew bodies could be so flexible!!

I didn't know legs could do that!

I tried this after, and it was fairly easy!!! (in my dreams!!)

The Candlelight Procession was______ … I can’t even find a word to describe the magnificence.  It was beautiful, it filled me so much with emotion, I cried!!

The high school choirs, Disney Choir, and Voices of Liberty as well as Disney Orchestra

All and all it WAS another magical day at Disney!

Good night!

Tues, Dec 7, 2010; Animal Kingdom

In Dreams Come True on December 7, 2010 at 4:40 pm

It warmed up to 49o!  Both Jennifer & I bought gloves today!

We had a great day!!  Went to Africa first thing & rode the truck to where all the animals were supposed to be.  Not many of them around, either, too cold!

See the animal ornaments

We enjoyed lunch at the Rainforest Cafe.  Went to India and saw the tigers.  Waited in line to see “Finding Nemo; the Musical.”  As always, I was moved to tears… I love that show no matter how many times I see it.

Fish are Friends!!!

Our topper for the day was EXPEDITION TO EVEREST.  The roller coaster.  It was much faster today, I think the rails being cold made for less friction.  OMG!

When we got back, we found our housekeeper had neatened up our room and made some absolutely darling animals out of towels.  You saw yesterday’s “hidden mickey.”  Today she made a Mama Bear and her Cub… AND LOOK WHAT SHE DID WITH OUR TOILET PAPER!!!  I have NEVER taken a photo of toilet paper!! before today.

Are these the cutest washcloths you've ever seen?

I'm going to try this one at home!!!

Jennifer is napping right now (and it’s only 4:30!!!) but when she wakes up, we’re headed for some serious shopping AND to see the fabulous decorations in Downtown Disney.

Until next time!

Dec 6 Magic Kingdom

In Dreams Come True on December 7, 2010 at 7:13 am

Greetings from sunny, COLD Florida.  I know, I know, it’s not as cold as NH, but it is frightfully close!!

Jennifer & I arrived safely and Southwest got us here on time, even though we left Manchester a half hour late.  Our Disney Magical Express was waiting for us.  We arrived at Disney’s All Star Movie Resort, our room was ready.  We immediately left for Magic Kingdom.

The Christmas decorations at Magic Kingdom are truly magical.  So many pointsettias, and people.  This is supposed to be a slow time of year, however, there are lots of people.  We opted not to wait in line for some rides because wait time being 40+ minutes.  We did get some fast passes.

Back to decorations… Cinderella Castle was a mass of lights flooded with colored lights, so the entire Castle changed colors.  My photos just don’t do it justice.  Disney’s Electric Light Parade was breathtaking… again, my photos don’t do justice.  With the decorations along Main Street all lit up, it was beautiful.

Cinderella Castle and friends!!

Even though Magic Kingdom was open to us (being resort guests) until 1 am, we only stayed until 8:30.  Still, I think that is pretty good since we were up at 4 am that morning

Internet connections… not as easy as you may think.  In our room, we have an ethernet cable which I’ve tried to no success, but then again, I was half asleep!  This morning, Tue, I’m writing from the Food Court, thinking there would be an airport I could sign onto… no go.  I asked at the front desk, “No, only in your room and it costs $9.95 per day.”  I didn’t expect it to be free, but was sure hoping it would be available.  I think I will let them know that!!!

A nice lady just asked me if I was leaving today…I answered no… she asked if I had children.. I answered yes… she asked if they would like this balloon!!!  I laughed & told her my children were adults!!!!

Off to Animal Kingdom today (Tue).  We’re bringing our fleece jackets!! and may have to buy gloves!  Tonight we’re going shopping in Downtown Disney.

Count Down is On!

In Dreams Come True on December 5, 2010 at 4:07 pm

Yes, the count down to visit Disney World at Christmastime.

One of our many Disney Decorations!

As I pack for a Monday departure, I’m nearly bursting!!  I just know Walt Disney Co goes over the top with decorations.  The weather looks good (no snow!!) with plenty of sunshine.  I will try to update you with our daily adventures, won’t promise.  Family members left at home will wish they were with Jennifer & I, we do feel bad for that… but not so bad we wouldn’t go!    Until next time…

Love, Brenda
